Jazz performance and album to benefit cancer research
Joyce Elkus has experienced cancer in a very personal way, even though she never had it. The Blue Ash resident and marketing consultant lost the two most important men in her life – her husband, Dr. Fred Elkus, and later, her companion, Dr. Stanley Kaplan – to the illness. Now, she is turning her tragedy into an ambitious and unusual musical project to raise money for cancer research.

"Unexpected Journey" was composed in four parts by New York-based musician, visual artist and filmmaker Zac Greenberg, who will perform it live with his New York-based band. The resulting album will be sold to the general public later, with each audience member receiving a copy at no additional charge.
